It stretches from an altitude of approximately 2134 metres to an imposing height of 3584 metres, Kedarnath. The trail portrays Mahabharata’s mythical colours of when the Pandavas went to the Himalayas so as to meet Lord Shiva. The Tungnath Temple is located in the Tungnath mountain range at a height of about 3680m above the sea level of Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. In the temple is the highest Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and stands on a ridge which divides the waters of Alaknanda from that of Mandakini River. This Himalayan Temple is the highest amongst the Panch Kedar tourist circuit and is said to have been built about a 1000 years ago.
