Fit – True to size and proper snug fit were some of the features that the users described fitting. A few users felt that the shoe was a bit too wide while a few others felt that the toe area was stiff and narrow. Some users also found that the shoelaces were not suitable for adjusting the width of the shoe.

Comfort – Both while climbing uphill and downhill, the shoe remained comfortable without causing any blisters, which the users loved. Users also mentioned that both while carrying heavy loads and light backpack, the comfort was not compromised for the entire day. One of the users, however, felt that the sole was not comfortable for rugged terrain while another found lack of general comfort provided by the shoe.

Traction – Users loved the smooth tread and the excellent traction over rugged terrain without tumbling over or slipping as provided by the boots.

Support – The support over arches, ankles and the outside of the feet were lauded by the users who stated that they felt safe while hiking. One of the users was not impressed with the overall support and felt that it could be better.

Quality – The quality of the design and construction of the boots was loved by most users. Some users felt that the sewed webbing on the tongue was making the shoe stiff. Another user also expressed that the quality was not up to the mark judging by its price.

Waterproof – Most users were impressed with the waterproofing feature of Salomon.

Breathability – While one of the users found that the shoe was suitable for hiking in the arid and warm region with its breathable design, some felt that the breathability was not sufficient.

Weight – The users were impressed with the light weight of the shoe stating that both with and without heavy backpacks, they worked fine. One user also felt that the shoe was so lightweight that she would not even feel like she was wearing it. The weight was a plus point while hiking along rocky terrains, so did it helped in light hiking, which satisfied the users. A few users, however, experienced mild pain in the ball section and heels after hiking long miles, although they agreed on the low weight.

Durability – Most of the users stated that the shoes are well made, sturdy and stable.

Looks – While some users were in love with the design and cool looks of the boots, some users felt that the colors available for the boots were not nice, rather they were too bright.

Price – With excellent comfort and durability, the shoes were the best investment for a hiker, so the users felt. One user also pointed out that people suffering from foot injury would find the boots extremely worthy to keep them healthy. One user, however, stated that she had expected a better quality shoe with its price.

Bottomline

Right after unboxing the Salomon X Ultra boots, you will love the color and sturdy build-up of the shoe. Next, you will immediately feel relieved finding out that the boots fit snugly yet comfortably. The ankle and arch support is commendable, which keep you safe from fatigue or blisters. You no longer have to worry about the traction, as the outsoles can grip on almost every surface, be is a slippery rock or rugged terrain. Hiking in scorching heat will be a piece of cake with its breathable design while crossing a stream or hiking in rain will be possible with its waterproofing feature. In some cases, people disliked the color, some felt the shoe was stiff and some felt the comfort was not much – but judging by its price, it is worth an investment.

The soles were supportive and they felt comfortable all weekend. I loved the ability to slip them off and on when in camp too – the lacing system seemed to come into it’s element there.
