Fit – While most users loved the snug fit of the shoe and were ecstatic about the spacious toe box, a few users found issues with the fitting and stated that the shoes were stiff. Some of the users also felt that the shoes were too loose.

Comfort – Almost all the users found this product to be quite comfortable for long time use. A few users seemed to found the shoe to be rather uncomfortable, especially during a multi-day backpacking trip.

Traction – Users were impressed with the sure-footed traction of the boot with Vibram sole which helped in climbing and traversing uneven terrains.

Protection Users felt that the boots needed external protection for the insoles, lack of cushioning is what they found is the issue; however, one user seemed to be impressed with the toe protection.

Support – The arch and toe support was quite an impressing feature, as the users commented. A few users felt that the arch was not properly designed for all varieties of feet as they felt the arch was suitable only for people having high arches.

Quality – While most of the users found the quality of the boots to be excellent with its features, a few had issues with the rubber and plastic material used in it.

Waterproof – Users were satisfied with the waterproof feature that ensures hiking for all day in wet and adverse weather conditions without any leakage.

Breathability – Most of the users were impressed with the wider toe pocket that ensures air circulation inside the boots. However, a few users felt that the shoes were more suitable for summer months. A few users also felt that the water-resistant upper was barring the ventilation.

Weight – Being lightweight, the users felt that the shoe was not only suitable for miles of hiking but also for daily use.

InsulationA few users felt that the shoe was a little too cold, making it not so suitable for winter wear while some felt that the shoes were enough to warm for long hours.

Durability – Users seem to be impressed with the sturdy build up of the shoe that adds durability while traversing through rugged terrains and that too for long miles. Some users found that the inner heels and the uppers were worn out after a rough tread.

Looks – The funky sneaker look is quite popular with the users as they found the design to be suitable for not only hiking but also for daily use. Two or more users felt that the shoe looked more of a stereotypical sneaker rather than an athletic shoe.

Price – The price, as most of the users felt, was expensive, but while a lot of users stated that it is worth the money, a few felt the shoe to be too pricey regarding the poor quality.

Bottomline

The smart and casual looking Merrell Men’s All Out Hiker looks perfect for a weekend hiking or backpacking trip with its comfortable fit, spacious toe box and enough breathability. The shoe is suitable for hiking in arid weather as well as in rain or through muddy trails. The Vibram Surface also provides ample traction while you are climbing steep slopes with the rocky surface or going downhill through loose gravel. The stiffness was a prevalent issue in some cases, however, after a brief break in time, the shoe comes in a good state.

The smart and stylish Merrell Men's All Out Blaze Hiking Shoe, just as the name suggests is an all-out shoe with breathability, durability, stability, waterproofing and excellent traction – making your long hiking days even more enjoyable and memorable. These shoes are designed specifically for absorbing external impact and letting your feet muscles move just the right way. The UniFly Cushion system in this boot gives you a perfect support while you are traversing through rough trails while the mesh build up on the Stratafuse upper with oiled leather surface lets your feet breathe while shielding from rain and water.

You no longer have to worry about sweaty and smelly feet as the M-Select Dry wicks vapour and M-Select Fresh mesh lining to the interior wicks sweat and odour formed by microbial reactions, thereby letting you hike fresh like ever. The Ultra Resilient Uni-Fly feature on the Midsoles is equipped with soft E-Foam acting as shock absorbers and the harder I-Tech top sheet ensures a safe landing and stable takeoff to let you hike smoother and faster. The Vibram Outsoles with multi-directional lugs, except under the arch, help in achieving flexibility and comfort in all weather conditions.

Upper

The oily waterproof leather surface on the upper is combined with mesh lining that gives a snug fit ensuring natural movement and lightweight durability. The M-Select Dry helps moisture to escape by sealing out water so that your feet stay dry for the whole day.

Midsole

The Midsoles are made of UniFly technology that comes with E-Foam cushioning and shock absorbing pads placed strategically to provide smooth landing by dispersing impact and stable takeoff by ensuring perfect balance. The Vibram outsoles offer great traction, stability, and support to let you go faster, further and longer.

Outersole

To maximize your agility while hiking even in rugged terrains, the Vibram® Outsoles come up with contoured lug patterns to increase your contact with the ground. There is no lug placed under the arch so that your feet can flex naturally and comfortably in arid and wet environmental conditions.

Ankle Support/Collar

The Ankle Support is made of Lycra Neoprene Collar with great flexibility so that you can easily put them on and take them off.

Tongue

The Bellows Tongue keeps the dirt and crud at bay.

Lacing System

The Omni-Fit lacing system gives a proper and snug fit like a glove.

Heel Counter

The Molded external TPU Heel counter adds stability.

Insole/Footbed/Sock Liner

Removable insole offers support.

Interiors (Lining)

The interior is lined with a mesh having M-Select Fresh feature that wicks sweat and odor caused by microbial and bacterial reactions by circulating air through the breathable mesh lining.

Think of approach shoes as a hybrid of the sole from a walking boot and an upper from a pair of your comfy slipper like trainers.

Merrell’s Allout Blaze performs above the average standards on most categories we have managed to test but it is still rather mediocre when it comes to waterproofing.
