We are sure the title has blown your mind off! Well, meet Robert Marchand, the 105 years old French cyclist who created a new world record in January 2017.
Well, the question now is what’s the record about?
Marchand covered 14 miles (22.54 km) in just an hour and yes he is 105 years old!
He is truly an inspiration, role model for plenty athletes and of course for the ones who need some motivation to follow their passion!
Robert Marchand – Fit as a Fiddle at 105 Years Old
We share an insight to his life via The Associated Press,
“Marchand, a former firefighter who was born in 1911 in the northern town of Amiens, has lived through two world wars. He led an eventful life that took him to Venezuela, where he worked as a truck driver near the end of the 1940s. He then moved to Canada and became a lumberjack for a while. Back in France in the 1960s, Marchand made a living through various jobs that left him with no time to practice sports.”
He finally took up his bike again when he was 68 years old and began a series of cycling feats.
“The diminutive Marchand — he is 1.52 meters (5-foot) tall and weighs 52 kilograms (115 pounds) — rode from Bordeaux to Paris, and Paris to Roubaix several times. He also cycled to Moscow from Paris in 1992. Ten years later, he set the record for someone over the age of 100 riding 100 kilometers (62 miles).”
105 years old Marchand is a Challenger
You would be surprised to know that after Robert Marchand had set his record he felt he could have performed better!
“I did not see the sign warning me I had 10 minutes left,” Marchand said, according to the AP. “Otherwise I would have gone faster, I would have posted a better time, ” he said. “I’m not tired.”
Now Marchand waits for a rival. Anyone in the 100 plus group willing to accept the challenge?

Healthy Lifestyle: The Reason for Success
The 105 years old Superman doesn’t eat meat and also is a non-smoker. However, he does drink wine occasionally and has a healthy diet that revolves around fruits and vegetables.
Marchand believes in the mantra of early to bed and early to rise! He hits his bed by 9 pm and is awake by 6 am and does regular exercises to stay in shape.
As mentioned above, in 2012, Marchand set the first-hour record in the over 100s category. And he beat his own record at the age of 102 and now he sets a new record at 105!

His physiologist shares that Marchand has a big heart that pumps a good amount of blood and for his age, he can easily high heart beat values!
